Sammi was born to a caucasian Christian family in San Antonio, Texas. She was born with osteogenesis imperfecta, which is commonly termed as the brittle bone disease.

Sammi had always been a sassy child. She grabbed Esperanza’s role when her mother, Priscilla, saw a Netflix ad for an audition for a sassy wheelchair user. Priscilla sent them some of Sammi’s videos. The directors of Raising Dion instantly loved Sammi’s performance.
Sammi, with her witty behavior and charm, quickly made friends on the set. For their six month shoot, Her father served as her advisor and, while doing so, also landed a cameo role as Esperanza’s father on the show.
