Robert Ross, popularly known as Black Rob, was born and raised in East Harlem, New York. He has not yet revealed any information about his parents and educational background.

Initially, Black Rob commenced his musical journey from his association with the label Bad boy. There he made appearances in several of their releases like What about us, 24 Hours To Live, and many more.

Black Rob got charged with larceny for possessing stolen jewelry worth $6000 in 2004. Later, in 2006, Rob was convicted to seven years in prison after he failed to appear in the court on the day of his sentencing. Later, he got released in May 2010 after four years in prison.
