Steven started his journey as a religious leader, by working at the Christ Covenant Church as their music director at Christ Covenant Church. After that, he shifted to Charlotte and founded Elevation Church, which has its service in 2006.

A year later, In 2007, he made headlines after donating $40 thousand to church members and asked them to spend it on others. Steven has now turned into a global speaker and has spoken at the 2011 Global Leadership Summit, the Presence Conference, the C3 Conference 2012 hosted, and the Hillsong Conference 2012.
